Arts & Technology Academy of Pontiac

About Us

Dear ATAP Families,

Welcome to the 2008-2009 School Year! It is hard to believe that we have already completed one month of school. There are many exciting things happening at Arts & Technology Academy of Pontiac. We are well underway for students and off to a flying start. We have added some new staff members this year. We would like to welcome Ms. Erin Shaughnessy as our school social worker and Mr. Michael Govan as our school counselor. I am excited to have both of these highly qualified people as part of our administrative team. We also have 2 new middle school teachers this year. I would also like to extend a big welcome to Ms. Stacie Clark our new writing teacher and Mrs. Meredith Haataja our middle school science teacher. As many of you know our preschool program is up and running and Ms. Griffin has a wonderful assistant this year. Her name is Ms. Deborah Lewis and the students have accepted her with open arms! If you have not already met them please stop in to introduce yourself.

The staff has been working to complete the testing of our new students and preparing for the MEAP test. Grades 3 through 8 will be taking the MEAP test beginning October 14th. It is extremely important that students be in school and on time for these particular tests. Our school is graded according to the performance of our students on this test. The more structure we can provide for our children the more successful they will be.

We are in the developing stages of forming a new parent group. Please keep your eyes open for information that will be coming home soon. We are looking for parent involvement and input in designing and developing improvements for our school as a community.

The ATAP staff would like to thank you for choosing us as your school of choice. We are here to serve your child. We know that you have a choice in education and will continue to uphold the standard of excellence that we each want for the success of every student at ATAP! Thank you for your support!

Best regards,
Mrs. Patty Wood
Chief Administrative Officer
